Est 1896 a family Business
Our legacy began in 1896 when Charles David De Fonseka established a business that manufactured Vinegar using Coconut Toddy. He aspired to be an entrepreneur and what started off as a small operation back in 1986 is now a prospering manufacturing business that provides Coconut Vinegar to numerous leading companies both locally in Sri Lanka and internationally.

​C. D. De Fonseka & Sons, is family owned and is aptly named after the founder of the business. Handed down over generations, it is the oldest Coconut Vinegar manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka and is now in the capable hands of the 4th generation. With a bold history 124 years, the expertise gained in the field is extensive and are pioneers in vinegar manufacturing in Sri Lanka.

Our products are made to its heritage methods using traditional techniques and wooden hulmilla/teak vats that are over a 100 years old. We create exclusive products using traditional to modern ingredients and methods. East and West are our food influences and we are always looking for new avenues in creating the next new products out of the gifts of Ceylon rain forests and organic farms.

With the many years of experience CDDEF has gone onto perfect and master the art of Coconut Vinegar manufacturing. C.D. de Fonseka & Sons is the largest Coconut Vinegar manufacturer in South Asia and Coconut Amino pioneers.

​CDDEF exports is a subsidiary under the parent company C. D. de Fonseka & Sons. CDDEF Exports was established to overlook the manufacturing of Premium products such as Organic Coconut Aminos and Organic Coconut Vinegar for the international market.

We source our natural ingredients from the small-scale farmers as we believe in encouraging fair trade. We also source all-natural ingredients from the rain forests and coconut groves of Sri Lanka, to provide our customers with premium Organic products.

​The sourcing and manufacturing of our products are fully checked by independent international certifying bodies. We are also checked by local authorities and is the only vinegar manufacturing facility that has SLS 168:1999 and is approved by the Coconut Development Authority for the production of natural vinegar. We are ISO 9001:2015 / ISO22000:2008 / USDA Organic/ EU Organic certified company supplying to the world by adhering to Global standards.
Colman's
Ceylon
C. D. de Fonseka & Sons partnership with Reckitt and Colman (Ceylon) Ltd started over half a century ago. The “Colman’s Vinegar” became a household name in the 1970’s due to this partnership, which has remained unbroken. The partnership between the two companies have existed for five decades which is why Reckitt Benckiser franchised the Colman’s brand ownership in Sri Lanka to C. D. de Fonseka and Sons pvt. Ltd. When Reckitt Beckiser divested in their food range in Sri Lanka, C. D. de Fonseka & Sons we able to acquire Brand Colman's for exclusive local distribution only on the island in 2019.

The backbone of our over 120 plus years of success and consistent continuation is our co-packer partners. We are one of the leading co-pack operators on the island, selling to established Brands as well as supermarket owned labelled products.
